London (Pothwar.com, April 18, 2025) \u2013 A pair of heartless Nottingham brothers stole their own mother\u2019s house from her while she was away in Pakistan. Nottingham Crown Court was told how Mohammed Ali and Mohammed Iqbal hatched a plan to forge her signature to apply for a mortgage she did not want or need and then transferred the address into one of their names.<\/h4>\n

When the \u00a3104,000 in cash landed in her account, Iqbal, who had access to it and her password, moved the money into his and his brother\u2019s accounts and spent it. And six years later, the home in Beeston, which is in need of work, has still not been moved back into the victim\u2019s name as it should be.<\/h4>\n

Jailing the brothers, Judge Mark Watson said: \u201cThe five counts I have to deal with you for today are that your father, having passed away with no will, left the family home to your mother. You then, between you, planned and executed that plan to steal it from her.<\/h4>\n

\u201cYou lied to the mortgage supplier and transferred it to Mohammed Ali and forged your mother\u2019s signature persuading (a mortgage supplier) when your mother was away (in Pakistan).<\/h4>\n

\u201cThe next stage was getting a mortgage for that property into your mother\u2019s account and transferring that into Mr Iqbal\u2019s account and then \u00a380,000 of it onto Mr Ali\u2019s. In a nutshell, you took your mother\u2019s home from her and spent it on your own greed.<\/h4>\n

\u201cIt was deliberate targeting of your victim, and by your victim I mean your mother, who was vulnerable because she does not speak very good English. She was clueless about what you were doing under her nose.\u201d<\/h4>\n

Lucy Jones, prosecuting, said the defendants are two of three sons to the victim but the middle son has absolutely nothing to do with defrauding their mother. She said their father died in 2016 from cancer and the house, which had no mortgage, transferred into his wife\u2019s name.<\/h4>\n

The prosecutor said this angered the two defendants, with one of them telling a family friend \u201cI am not having it, this house belongs to us\u201d. Miss Jones said from then on they hatched and then carried out their illegal plan which saw them take the address from her fraudulently<\/h4>\n

She said: \u201cShe was clueless about what her sons were planning. She travelled back from Pakistan and found out the house had been sold (to them). They had forged her signature on a mortgage application and when the money was put into her account, Mr Iqbal, who had her password and access to her finances, then transferred the money in five \u00a320,000 batches over several days into his account and then made four \u00a320,000 transfers into Mr Ali\u2019s.\u201d<\/h4>\n

Both brothers, who have no previous conviction, pleaded guilty to charges of fraud and transfer of criminal property. In a victim impact statement, the mother told of the shock and disappointment she felt having had her house taken from her by two of her sons.<\/h4>\n

She said: \u201cI feel alone and isolated and I have been badly impacted financially. There has been gossip spread in the community about me prosecuting my own children which was a difficult decision but I had no other options as it is my house.\u201d<\/h4>\n

Miss Jones said the property is still in the name of Ali and is still yet to be transferred back into his and his brother\u2019s mother\u2019s name. Ali, 33, of Pelham Crescent, Beeston, was jailed for 27 months and Iqbal, 35, of Penryhn Crescent, Chilwell was sent to prison for 30 months.<\/h4>\n

In mitigation, it was said that the younger brother had \u201cspent the money on a woman who has now left him\u201d. And the older brother had worked for the Royal Mail for a number of years and was now a DPD delivery driver with a wife and two children.<\/h4>\n
