2024):<\/strong><br \/>\nNew York City Mayor Eric Adams, calling himself a \u201clong-time friend\u201d of the Pakistani community, lauded the contributions of nearly 500 Pakistani-American officers serving in the NYPD. Speaking at the annual awards dinner of the Pakistan American Law Enforcement Society (PALS), the Mayor commended their dedication, performance, and role in America\u2019s largest police force, comprising over 30,000 members.<\/h4>\n<h4>Reflecting on his longstanding ties with the Pakistani community from his time as Brooklyn Borough President, Adams expressed pride in honoring the legacy of Adid, a young Pakistani officer killed in the line of duty. He highlighted the recognition of Adid\u2019s sacrifice as \u201cdeath on duty,\u201d ensuring his family received the entitled benefits.<\/h4>\n<h4>The gala dinner featured awards presented to several NYPD officials and other distinguished individuals. Notable attendees included Pakistan\u2019s Consul General in New York, Aamir Atozai; the first Muslim federal judge in U.S. history, Zahid Qureshi; New York State Assembly member Raj Kumar; and other dignitaries.<\/h4>\n<h4>Despite the $175 ticket price, the event saw an overwhelming turnout, with the venue reaching full capacity.
