Rawat (Pothwar.com, Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi, 7 July 2024) \u2013 In the Rawat area, a notorious car lifter gang opened fire on a police party during an attempted vehicle theft. One gang member was killed by their own gunfire, another was arrested in an injured state, and a third escaped while shooting.<\/h4>\n

The Rawat police had set up a special checkpoint to prevent car thefts. During the checkpoint, a suspicious vehicle was signalled to stop, but the suspects fired at the police and attempted to flee. The police pursued the vehicle, and the suspects again opened fire on the police in the Waris Khan area. During this exchange, one gang member was killed, later identified as Adnan, and another, identified as Ramzan, was captured in an injured state.<\/h4>\n

Senior officers, along with additional personnel, promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving the report. The deceased’s body was sent for a post-mortem, while the injured suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment. The police recovered the stolen vehicle and weapons from the suspects, which had been reported stolen from the Rawat area. The deceased gang member had a record of multiple car theft cases and was wanted by the police.
