Rawat (Pothwar.com, Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi, December 14, 2023) – Residents of twin cities narrowly escaped a health crisis as 3600 kilograms of unsafe meat destined for Islamabad and Rawalpindi from Sargodha was intercepted. A significant operation took place near the Motorway M-2 Salam Interchange, within the jurisdiction of Phularwan Police Station, conducted jointly by the Punjab Food Authority and Phularwan Police.<\/h4>\n

The operation, led by Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority Sargodha Shabaz and Additional Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority, saw the collaboration of Food Safety teams, the Department of Livestock, and SHO Phularwan during the raid. The enforcement team confiscated 90 maunds (3600 kilograms) of hazardous meat from an illegal slaughterhouse, rendering it unfit for consumption. The tainted meat, previously supplied from a private illegal slaughterhouse, was being transported to Rawalpindi\/Islamabad and stored after a superficial wash.<\/h4>\n

According to local sources, this is not the first time that actions have been taken against the accused. However, previous efforts did not yield substantial results due to the covert nature of the operations.<\/h4>\n
