Independence Day is celebrated on 17th May. Norway&#8217;s Independence Day is celebrated in a very unique way. According to a survey, 80% of Norwegians celebrate independence in a big way. Flowers are laid at the graves of Norwegian heroes throughout Norway on May 17 and tributes are paid to their role in Norway&#8217;s development. Dr. Nadeem Hussain, a well-known figure in Urdu literature based in Norway, laid flowers at the grave of the world-renowned writer and playwright Henrik Ibsen and paid rich tribute to Henrik Ibsen&#8217;s literary endeavors. In Norway, schoolchildren parade with flags on main highways and Norwegian long live slogans. This year, more than 30,000 schoolchildren in Oslo took part in the parade. The Children&#8217;s Parade in Oslo began in 1870, and every year on Independence Day the King of Norway with his family encourages the children by shaking hands from the balcony. The Oslo City Council traditionally hosts a luncheon with the Mayor of Oslo and the Chairman of the May 17 Committee and members of his team in attendance.
