Kallar Syedan: (Pothwar.com, Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi, December 16, 2021) * Local body elections \/ Punjab, important orders issued to Deputy Commissioners for the preparation of local body elections, the Local Government Department sent a letter to all Deputy Commissioners to prepare for the local body elections. All DCs were also directed to prepare maps of Neighbourhood Council and Village Council. DCs were directed to prepare maps according to the new local government system.<\/h4>\n

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar signed the Punjab Local Bodies Ordinance 2021 in Lahore. Speaking on this occasion, he said the new local government system will empower the people in real sense. He said for the first time, the people will elect their mayors by direct vote while power has been transferred to Mayors to lead important institutions under the new system. The Governor said the Mayors of the metropolitan and Mayors of the District Councils will also be elected directly by the people. He said under the Punjab Local Bodies Ordinance, local body elections will be held on a party basis in the province.<\/h4>\n
