Prior to him, Sardar Ilyas Khan, a senior officer of Azad Kashmir Police, was the DIG of Mirpur region. He died of a heart attack in January 2021. He was replaced by SSP, Mirpur District, Raja Irfan Saleem Sahib, Acting DIG, Region. A new DIG has been appointed on June 11, 2021.
