Manchester; A woman who pretended to be a victim of the Manchester bombing and other tragedies to con \u00a3180,000 has been jailed for three years.<\/p>\n

Ruksana Ashraf admitted three counts of fraud relating to false insurance claims made to RSA, Aviva, and Legal and General between 2012 and 2017.<\/p>\n

A court heard the 44-year-old from Edinburgh had used multiple mobile phone SIM cards and fake names and addresses to take out dozens of insurance policies.<\/p>\n

She went on to make a series of bogus claims – including one relating to the tragedy which claimed 22 lives at a Manchester Arena Ariana Grande concert last year.<\/p>\n

Ashraf also admitted one count of possessing – criminal property in relation to receiving vouchers from insurers instead of compensation.<\/p>\n

Ben Holt, prosecuting, said the successful claims totalled \u00a350,116, but Ashraf had also tried to scam a further \u00a3129,030, claims which were not successful.<\/p>\n

He told Inner London Crown Court yesterday that Ashraf made claims relating to Grenfell Tower and two major terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
